EKS PRODUCTIONS was founded in 1983 with the vision to produce films for all purposes. as well as forming up companies to service, distribute and exhibit these productions. Planning and research started on a film distribution company, theatres, music production company, a talent agency, a location catering company, an equipment hire and transport company, to be formed into a group specialising in all aspects of the film industry.

After a year of preparation period, EKS PRODUCTIONS started producing TV Commercials and servicing foreign productions shooting in Turkey in 1984. At the same time,  a long research and preparation started to specialise in "Corporate" and Training Films.

After 1985, the company achieved a considerable reputation for the films produced and services provided to foreign companies shooting in Turkey. The company also produced feature films and training films, starting from 1986 realising its objectives.

 

FILM PRODUCTIONS

• TV COMMERCIALS

EKS PRODUCTIONS is one of the major TV commercial producers in Turkey, with nearly 500 commercials produced, as well as giving services to foreign commercials shot in Turkey. Many films produced by EKS PRODUCTIONS received awards at the National Advertising Films Festival. 

 

• FEATURE FILMS & DRAMA

 

EKS PRODUCTIONS has produced four feature films since 1986, namely, "White Bicycle", "A Broken Doll", "After Yesterday Before Tomorrow" and "Two Headed Giant (Purgatory)". All the films produced have received awards at National Festivals as well as being invited to foreign festivals and film weeks. The company has been developing 3 feature film projects which will be produced starting from 2003.

 

• FOREIGN PRODUCTIONS

 

EKS PRODUCTIONS has given producers who filmed feature films, documentaries, commercials and films for other purposes in Turkey, the following services: 

• Budgeting,

• Location Scouting,

• Acquiring all local permits,

• Providing English speaking (as well as other major languages) Cast-crew and production staff and crowd

• Location catering,

• Transport

• Grip, lighting equipment and Transport,

• Art department and equipment requirements.

With the reconstruction in 1993, the company stopped giving services to other companies, except consultancy. Between 1997 and 1999 EKS acted as consultants to Golden Horn Media, a production services company in Turkey and ANTALYA STUDIOS the company founded, as well as "Arabian Nights", a Hallmark Production shot in ANTALYA STUDIOS, Turkish Production services provided by Golden Horn Media.

DISTRIBUTION

 

The company increased its knowledge and experience in distribution and acted as consultant to Warner Home Video, when they entered the Turkish Market in 1986-7 and helped Warner Theatrical, start distribution in Turkey. 

EKS DISTRIBUTION was founded in 1989, while consultancy and other services were given to AVT (Audio Visiual Turkey), a foreign company, which distributed Walt Disney, Paramount, Universal, MGM and United Artists product for Home Video. EKS DISTRIBUTION distributed in Turkey, domestic and foreign feature films in all media. As well as distributing commercials in theatres throughout Turkey with the EKS SCREEN ADVERTISING banner.

 

EXHIBITION

 

EKS also controlled and programmed 3 theatres in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir, equipped with the best projection and Dolby Stereo Sound systems, between 1988 - 1992, with success and profitability. The three years of research and experience, has brought the company to the decision of abandoning exhibition until finances are available to found multiplexes. Meanwhile company was available to provide consultancy , management or auditing services to exhibition companies.

 

FILMPEOPLE

 

The company specialises in casting services for all kinds of films including features, as well as training and managing actors and production people. 

CORPORATE FILMS

EKS PRODUCTIONS, started producing "Training Films" and "Corporate" films for leading companies in Turkey in a full scale starting from 1991. 

 

SİNEKOL

In the early years, the training films were made to order and requests of a few number of companies who could afford the full budget of a film. The company saw the need and the number of SME’s in the country and founded a system of  "Training With Films" and registered as “Sinekol” brand name. “Sinekol” system which allows training of personnel with interactive group training, self-learning and distant-training concepts was widely accepted in Turkey and 3 films were produced up to 2001. The company just completed the first training film in English to make the “Sinekol” System available world-wide.

 

CONSULTANCY

 

EKS PRODUCTIONS is ready to share its know-how and experience with other persons and establishments. We can give you consultancy and auditing services in all fields that involve film production, distribution and exhibition especially to establishments whose main business is not film production, like advertisers who want their commercials to be audited both financially and in quality.

1984
* EKS PRODUCTIONS Provided some services for METRONOM Films of Denmark, their production of "HODJA OF PYOTR" a feature film for children, completely shot in Turkey.
* 10 TV Commercials.

1985
* 5x1 hour TV serial "RATES OF EXCHANGE" for BBC, produced by Michael WEARING, directed by Chris MENAUL and designed by Stuart WALKER. This serial was to be shot in Istanbul, Ankara and Eskisehir but was cancelled after completion of the pre-production, due to reasons within the BBC.
* 42 TV Commercials.
* Pop-promo for the Pop Group Vitamin Z, for Jump Productions, London U.K.

1986
* "WHITE BICYCLE", feature film, directed by Nisan AKMAN, which received the special Jury Price of the National Film Festival, Antalya, Turkey and an award from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
* 70 TV Commercials.

1987
* Feature film, "A BROKEN DOLL" directed by Nisan AKMAN, which received an award from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
* One hour documentary on the City of Istanbul with TBS TV. Japan, directed by Leo YAMADA.
* Pre-Production started on Agatha CHRISTIE'S "MURDER IN MESOPOTAMIA" produced by Burbank Films, Australia, directed by Christopher MILES, starring Peter USTINOV and Gregory PECK. The film was expected to be shot in 1989 but was cancelled due to the financing arrangements failing to be completed.
* 82 TV Commercials.

1988
* Feature film "SLIPSTREAM" for Entertainment Films, London, produced by Gary KURTZ, directed by Steven LISBERGER, starring Mark HAMIL, Bob PECK and Kitty ALDRIDGE, 3 weeks pre-production and 2 weeks shoot.
* Feature film "THE FAVORITE" for Ascona Films Inc.,Hollywood, produced by Georges Alain VUILLE, directed by Jack SMIGHT, starring F.Murray ABRAHAM, Maud ADAMS, pre-production in Bulgaria and Turkey, shot 1 week in Bulgaria Buyanna Studios managed by EKS and 6 weeks in Turkey.
* Documantary on "TUNA FISH" for Japan Airlines, produced by Advanced Visions, Rome.
* Feature Film "AFTER YESTERDAY, BEFORE TOMORROW" directed by Nisan AKMAN, which received Best Actress Award for Zuhal OLCAY in II. Ankara Film Festival. Association of Turkish Film Critics chose the film as one of the Best Five Films of the year, awarded Sedef ECER as the "Best Supporting Actress" for her performance in the film and Onno TUNC`s music as the "Best Film Music" of the year.

1988 (CONTD)

* "ONE SEA" 10 x half hour documentary on the past, present and future of the Mediterranean Sea, produced by Third Eye Productions Ltd, of London for Channel 4, U.K. directed by Geoffrey HAYDON.
* 96 TV Commercials.

1989
* BBC Documentary feature "CHURCHILL", one week shoot in Galipoli.
* 95 TV Commercials,
* Pre-production started on a feature to be named and shot in 1990.
